Get up to 70% of your annual hot water needs from the sun!
Reduce your greenhouse gas production by nearly one tonne per year.
It’s what we do, and have been doing for 20+ years.
Boss Solar can supply a solar hot water heater which can provide up to 70% of your annual hot water needs at a very reasonable cost.
There have been a lot of changes in the renewables world in the last 10 years. Where SDHW (solar domestic hot water) was a a simple installation and PV was considered expensive, now the tables have turned. PV has become so inexpensive that we can use it to heat a water tank directly. The result is, no maintenance for pumps, controls or antifreeze changes. The installed cost has come down by 25% as well over the older thermal type.
The thermal panels still have their place but it is more for pool heating or DHW in larger buildings. These panels are designed to work efficiently for 25+ years and have the history and reputation to prove it. 20 years of trying different collectors, flat and vacuum, and watching the industry evolve, has convinced us that a good quality flat collector will provide years of efficient service at the lowest cost.
In an effort to keep quality high, our state of the art solar hot water systems utilize components from the best manufacturers in North America and Europe. That said, we use as much local product as possible to keep our embodied energy low and provide local employment.
Take a look at the wide variety of installations on our projects page. From small flat and tube collector systems to installations with 120 collectors, we have the experience to complete your job.
When it comes to backup heating equipment, Boss recommends and installs the best high-efficiency units such as the Viessmann Vitodens boilers at 96% or the Navien tankless water heater at 98% (see our back-up heating equipment page). Not all tankless water heaters are designed to work with solar systems. A good installer will know which ones to use and which to avoid.
During the summer when smog is at its worst, a good system will produce nearly 100% of your hot water. Imagine what 100,000 systems can do for our air quality!
